26th Emancipation Day Celebration

Emancipation day is an auspicious occasion that affords us a unique opportunity to reflect on our history and honour our ancestors. It marks the abolition of slavery in the British Colonies in 1834 and is an annual observance introduced in Ghana since 1998. Emacipation Day is held on August 1st each year. The holiday is marked with various activities, including parades, cultural performances, lectures, and symposiums aimed at reflecting on the history of slavery, honoring the ancestors who suffered under it, and celebrating freedom and African heritage. This year hopes to be the biggest Emancipation Day Celebration yet.

Funeral of the late Barima Kwame Nkyi XII

Barima Kwame Nkyi was the 19th Paramount Chief (Omanhene) of Assin Apimanim Traditional Area and occupant of the Mintah Abu stool. After 48 years of an exceptional reign since 1968, He passed on to be with his ancestors. On 25th February, 1931 at Agona Nsaba in the Central Region of Ghana, Paul Baah Andam (the name before his ascension) was born to Papa Kojo Appiah and Maame Ekua Fosuah from the Assin Apimanim Royal Asona clan, who was a sister to his maternal uncle and immediate predecessor, Nana Kwame Nkyi XI. Though he was a brave and sagacious king, contentions surrounding the election of his successor, will halt his funeral rites of passage.
